Talk:USS Grissom (NCC-638)
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference
[edit] Moved from talk:USS Grissom
The earliest Grissom - why does it have such a low registry number? Shouldn't it at least be four numbers long?
- Presumably it is a very old ship. See Oberth-class and Talk:Oberth class. Jaz talk | novels 20:54, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Or, there was a batch of three-digit numbers left over from an earlier era, which Starfleet applied (in the 2270's) to its small science vessels. (Because, the Grissom looks fairly contemporary to the Excelsior-class ships of the late 23rd century.)
