Taurean headband
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference.
A Taurean headband was a device used by the women who inhabit the second planet of the Taurean system.
When the women are near an individual, the headbands worn by the men glow brightly, however, when they are not near, the glow diminishes. Spock postulated that the headbands may be polarized conductors which transfer the vital energy or life forces from humanoid males to the bodies of the women. Prior to receiving this life energy, the women appear listless, however, the process of the headbands causes males to undergo rapid aging and weakness, which in turn makes the women more energetic and vital. The aging process caused by these headbands causes men to age at a rate of 10 years per day.
In 2269, the crew of the USS Enterprise visited the Taurean system, in an attempt to solve a mystery concerning lost crews and ships. The male crew members, including Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Carver, almost succumbed to the life-draining devices, but were saved by the female officers, lead by Uhura and Christine Chapel.
