This template is intended to make it easier to link to character articles from Star Trek with the (alternate reality) disambiguator.

To use it, the page name without the disambiguator is entered as follows:

{{alt|James T. Kirk}}

This renders the link as James T. Kirk, which links to James T. Kirk (alternate reality), and pipes the link.
