Template:Meta
- Was created as a test 18 months ago but voted down (IIRC) and never used. If not deleted, this needs to be discussed again. -- Cid Highwind 11:52, 27 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- We have something similar in MA/de, has more text though and informs the reader not to wikify non-canon subjects. Discuss -- Kobi - (Talk) 12:13, 27 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Delete - We have a category for Meta-Trek pages, a non-canon template should be created with the name "Noncanon", not with "Meta". --Memory 20:32, 27 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Discuss --From Andoria with Love 21:12, 27 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Keep for now, and discuss the merits of it elsewhere. This wouldn't be just for (or at all?) "non-canon" info, but for production or out of universe info.--Tim Thomason 06:27, 2 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- discuss whether it would be good to possibly categorize or at least tag all "meta-trek" (mostly referred to as "production" in MA lexicon). perhaps move the template to a name "production" or something similar could be suggested, since no one really thought "Meta-trek" made sense (kind of why i couldn't figure out how to make the template work). Would an attention banner at the top of the article with a couple or a handful "top level" 'behind-the-scenes' links, be useful to add to actor articles, to tell them apart from the various fictional persons in the Star Trek universe? On other wikis, I've always noticed this kind of mass article separation or at least tagging with a more detailed browser, and wondered if there were any pertinent objections to creating some sort of plan to enact it, possibly with a bot -- can anyone think of any detriments or stumbling blocks? -- Captain Mike K. - Do you have a link to another wiki for demonstration? --Memory 19:51, 3 Jan 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Further discussion
Whatever the scope of this template will become, I think it needs to be moved to a more verbose title. Then, I'm opposed to a simple "non-canon" template - I think this should be a template for Production POV articles. -- Cid Highwind 20:31, 3 Jan 2006 (UTC)
Since the Canon policy uses the term "Trek franchise article", I suggest moving this template to "Template:Franchise article", to be placed at the top of such articles, and changing the content to (final formatting notwithstanding):
This is a Trek franchise article
It deals with information about the Star Trek franchise. Please read the Canon policy for details on how to format and link to this article.
Franchise articles should, of course, still be restricted to what is allowed by the canon policy; this template mustn't become a "free ticket" to create whatever non-canon article one thinks is necessary. -- Cid Highwind 14:23, 9 Jan 2006 (UTC)
