Terri Potts, initially credited as Terri Martinez, began as a production associate on Star Trek: The Next Generation before becoming a production supervisor and later associate producer and ultimately co-producer on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She also worked as an associate producer on the Star Trek: Klingon and Star Trek: Borg games.

Potts joined the crew of TNG at the start of the third season. She first started working as an assistant to the producers, but by the episode "Who Watches the Watchers", she was the show's post-production associate. She left TNG at the end of the fifth season to work as post-production supervisor on DS9. She changed her credit from Terri Martinez to Terri Potts at the start of that show's second season.

She became DS9's associate producer beginning with the episode "Life Support". From the start of the sixth season and until the end of the series, she served as the show's co-producer.

After Deep Space Nine ended, she worked on the popular series Freaks and Geeks and its follow-up Undeclared. Potts also worked on the 2001 television movie Semper Fi and as a post-production supervisor on Life As We Know It.
