Thomas Warkentin (1936 – 12 March 2003) was the first writer and illustrator for the Star Trek comic strip, and was active on the strip on and off during three of its four years.
Warkentin began his career in technical illustrating, advertising, album cover design and magazine illustration. Following his stint on Star Trek he wrote the "Flash Gordon" strip for several years in the early 1990s. Working for both Disney and Warner Brothers, Warkentin won an Emmy for his work on "Animaniacs".
