Trinimbic turbulence is an atmospheric phenomenon that poses a hazard to shuttlecraft.
The Briori planet in the Delta Quadrant experienced trinimbic turbulence. As a result, in 2372 Captain Kathryn Janeway ordered that the USS Voyager itself land, rather than sending a shuttle. (VOY: "The 37's")
