A tri-phasic emitter was a device which allowed a vessel to simulate the weapons fire of alien spacecraft.
The Romulan drone ship was equipped with tri-phasic emitters. In 2154, it used the emitters to simulate Tellarite weapons and utilized holographic projectors to disguise itself as a Tellarite freighter while attacking the Andorian warship Kumari. The drone ship's emitters were later used to imitate Andorian weapons while attacking the United Earth starship NX-01 Enterprise. (ENT: "Babel One")
The emitters also proved capable of simulating phase cannon fire when the drone ship attacked a Rigelian scout ship. (ENT: "United")
