The troposphere is the lowest region of a planet's atmosphere.
In 2161, Ensign Travis Mayweather warned the occupants of Shuttlepod 1 that the shuttlepod was entering the troposphere of Rigel X, a planet in the Rigel system, and that the shuttlepod would experience some turbulence. (ENT: "These Are the Voyages...")
In 2373, the Sacajawea, carrying Neelix, Tuvok and Sklar descended through the troposphere of a planet populated by the Nezu. (VOY: "Rise")
In 2378, Lieutenant Tom Paris piloted the USS Voyager 10,000 meters into the troposphere of the planet Uxal so the ship could to try to remove radiation from the atmosphere using modified photon torpedoes. (VOY: "Friendship One")
