[edit] Background

The Bellerophon sets were, of course, a reuse of the USS Voyager sets from Star Trek: Voyager. The Bellerophon used a galley instead of a captain's dining room behind the mess hall.

"Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges" writer Ronald D. Moore named the Bellerophon after the HMS Bellerophon, a British warship which served as part of a fleet commanded by Lord Nelson in the early 19th century. This vessel was in turn named after the Greek mythological hero Bellerophon, who rode the winged horse, Pegasus. Coincidentally, "The Pegasus" is the name of another episode also written by Moore. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion)

The flyby of the Bellerophon after the Romulan interrogation scene actually shows the USS Voyager, as evidenced by its registry number: NCC-74656. This was apparently a reuse of one of the flybys of Voyager.

This is the only time an Intrepid-class starship has ever been seen outside Star Trek: Voyager.

The Bellerophon was also the name of the starship that colonized the planet in the film Forbidden Planet. That film was said to be among Gene Roddenberry's inspirations for creating Star Trek. (Star Trek Creator: The Authorized Biography of Gene Roddenberry)
