The USS Bellerophon (NCC-62048) was a Nebula-class starship that was in service during the latter half of the 24th century.
In 2367, the Bellerophon participated in the battle against the Borg at Wolf 359. It engaged the attacking Borg cube, alongside the starship USS Yamaguchi, at the time the cube had tractored the USS Saratoga. It was ultimately destroyed in the battle along with 38 other starships. (DS9: "Emissary")
The Star Trek Encyclopedia misspells the name as "Bellerephon". This raises the question whether the typographical error misspelling the name originated in the Encyclopedia, or another backstage source. The registry, which was originally published in the Encyclopedia, was later confirmed by a photograph posted by Doug Drexler. [1]
