USS Constellation (NCC-1974)
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference
The USS Constellation (NCC-1974) was the prototype of the Constellation-class starship.
In 2293, the Constellation was undergoing certification trials. At this time, the vessel had an NX registry number prefix. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)
In 2371, the Constellation was ordered to Deep Space 9 to transport a Jem'Hadar child to Starfleet for study. (DS9: "The Abandoned")
During the Dominion War in mid-2374, it was assigned to assist the USS Defiant in the search for survivors of the Cardassian attack on the USS Honshu. (DS9: "Waltz")
[edit] Background information
The Constellation was not seen in either DS9 episode, but only mentioned in dialog. Therefore, it is possible that the Constellation was a different, newer starship. However, without direct evidence, this article assumes that it was the same starship.
The first edition of the Star Trek Encyclopedia has a black-and-white drawing of this starship.
She was named in honor of the USS Constellation
The Constellation was not seen, but only listed in a computer status display.
According to a ship list included in the plans, and not seen in the extended cut of the movie, the Constellation was commanded by G. Cantemessa, and the ship was located in Sector 21835.
The ship's captain was named after the sixth movie's sound producer Gene S. Cantamessa.| Constellation-class starships |
