USS Roosevelt

The USS Roosevelt was a Federation starship that was in service during the latter half of the 24th century.

In 2367, Roosevelt saw action against the Borg at the Battle of Wolf 359. The ship was destroyed and many of its crew assimilated, including science officer Dr. Riley Frazier. (VOY: "Unity")

The Star Trek Encyclopedia states that this vessel was an Excelsior-class starship, with a registry of NCC-2573.

The nomenclature of the starship is likely to have come from either or both of the 20th century US Presidents Theodore Roosevelt or Franklin D. Roosevelt (the U.S. Navy destroyer of that name currently in use is a tribute to Franklin Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor, while the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, like the other ships of her class, carries the honoree's full name) - given that both are regarded as among the country's best Presidents, it would make sense that they might be honored together.
