The USS Yamaguchi (NCC-26510) was an Ambassador-class Federation starship that was in service during the latter half of the 24th century.
In 2367, the Yamaguchi participated in the battle against the Borg at Wolf 359. It engaged the attacking Borg cube, alongside the USS Bellerophon, at the time the cube had tractored the USS Saratoga. It was ultimately destroyed in the battle along with 38 other starships. (DS9: "Emissary")
[edit] Background
- The studio model was a reuse of the modified USS Enterprise-C model seen as the USS Zhukov in TNG: "Data's Day" and the USS Excalibur in TNG: "Redemption II".
- The Yamaguchi, which literally means "mountain mouth", was named after a prefecture in Japan, and is also a common surname.
- Two ship's decals remain on the starship to this day. [1]
