Unferth

Unferth was a fictional character in the Beowulf holonovel used onboard the USS Voyager. Unferth was a courtier to King Hrothgar.

Unferth seriously opposed the presence of strangers (aka Voyager crewmembers) in King Hrothgar's castle, claiming they would engender false hope in the king and his men who feared Grendel. Grendel was in reality an energy lifeform trapped in the program that had captured and transformed Tuvok, Chakotay , and Harry Kim into energy. When the Doctor was sent to rescue them, Unferth fought him in a swordfight to see if the Doctor was worthy to fight Grendel. The Doctor slightly wounded him and was proclaimed a hero. He believed that the Doctor was in league with Grendel. In his opposition he went as far as to attack the Doctor, but instead killed Freya in this process. (VOY: "Heroes and Demons")

Unferth was played by Christopher Neame. The costume worn by Neame as Unferth was auctioned off in the It's A Wrap! sale and auction.
