In 2371, the Cardassian Obsidian Order illegally constructed several Keldon-class vessels with the assistance of the Romulan Tal Shiar in the Orias system.

Early that year, the Obsidian Order sent three of these vessels from the Orias system to engage the rogue USS Defiant, commanded by Thomas Riker. After engaging two of the vessels, and disabling one of them, three more ships emerged from the system to given chase. They would eventually return to the Orias system after the Defiant surrendered. (DS9: "Defiant")

Later that year, the Obsidian Order fleet traveled to the Gamma Quadrant on a mission to destroy the Founders' homeworld. They were subsequently destroyed during the Battle of the Omarion Nebula by the Jem'Hadar along with the Romulan fleet. (DS9: "The Die is Cast")

The Koranak was the only one of these Keldon class vessels to be given a name.
