In 2152, two unnamed Romulan Birds-of-Prey chased the Earth Starfleet starship Enterprise from their territory after the Earth ship mistakenly entered one of their minefields. (ENT: "Minefield")

The novel The Good That Men Do gives the name of one of these vessels as the Praetor Pontilus, and suggests that these ships were not able to maintain their cloaks for long before self destructing.

In 2266, the Praetor's flagship was involved in the Neutral Zone Incursion with the Federation. (TOS: "Balance of Terror")

The Star Trek Customizable Card Game gives this ship's name as Gal Gath'thong, named after the geological formation on Romulus.

The Decipher RPG calls this vessel Tellus.

In 2267, ten unnamed Romulan Birds-of-Prey engaged the USS Enterprise after it entered the Romulan Neutral Zone. (TOS: "The Deadly Years")

In 2268, an unnamed Bird-of-Prey and two unnamed Romulan battle cruisers participated in the capture of the USS Enterprise after it crossed Romulan Neutral Zone.

They would eventually be outmaneuvered by the Enterprise after it engaged a cloaking device stolen from the Romulan flagship. (TOS: "The Enterprise Incident")
