A warp matrix was a technological component found on starships that was required to obtain warp speed. A flux capacitor was a sub-component of a warp matrix. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")

In 2154, a Klingon subroutine compromised the warp matrix of the NX-01 Enterprise, requiring the assistance of the NX-02 Columbia. (ENT: "Divergence") Later in the same year, Commander Trip Tucker and Lieutenant Malcolm Reed disabled the warp system of a prototype Romulan drone-ship via the main coupling for its warp matrix. (ENT: "United") Just days later, a Klingon boarding party transported aboard the Enterprise and sabotaged its warp matrix. (ENT: "Affliction")

In 2376, it was noted that the Delta Flyer's warp matrix was out of alignment by 0.3 microns. (VOY: "Unimatrix Zero")
