The Flyer is credited with the first successful, controlled, powered, sustained flight involving a heavier-than-air vehicle, using mechanically-unassisted takeoff.

After Jonathan Archer restored a damaged timeline, the Wright Flyer could be seen in the time stream as the timeline realigned itself. (ENT: "Storm Front, Part II")

A scene featuring this historic airplane is also featured in the opening credits for Star Trek: Enterprise.
