=== Early Victories ===
As the Rebellion grew, so did its list of victories against the [[Terran Empire|Empire]]. These victories were achieved through the use of native built ships, not Terran derived designs. The most important of these battles was the [[Tau Ceti|Battle of Tau Ceti]] where 12 ships of the Empire's [[Starfleet]] were destroyed. This proved to be a significant blow to the morale of the senior command of Starfleet. ([[IAMD]])

The Rebellion was on the top of another great victory, destroying all but one ship in the [[ISS Avenger|ISS ''Avenger'''s]] [[assault fleet]], when the [[USS Defiant (NCC-1764)|USS ''Defiant'']] entered the battle. With its advanced weaponry and defenses, Defiant all but destroyed the Rebellion's fleet. One ship was spared by [[Jonathan Archer|'Captain' Archer]] so that it would spread news, and fear, of the Empire's new starship. ([[IAMD]])
