Cadet Gerace was a Starfleet cadet who entered Starfleet Academy in the 2250s.
When Vulcan was attacked by the Narada in 2258, Gerace was assigned to the USS Farragut to assist in the rescue attempts. He was presumably killed during the mission when the Farragut was destroyed by the Narada. (Star Trek)

Gerace was an in-joke reference to Sean Gerace, who was a researcher and actor on the film.
