Maple seedling

The maple was a species of tree native to Earth. Maple syrup was a foodstuff that could be made from the sap extracted from certain varieties of maple trees. A single maple leaf was a national symbol of Canada, appearing on its flag. (ENT: "First Flight", SNW: "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow") It also formed part of the logo of the Toronto Maple Leafs. (SNW: "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow")

La'an Noonien-Singh mentioned maple leaves as a symbol of Canada (along with politeness and poutine) when explaining to an alternate James T. Kirk that they had time-travelled to Toronto, Canada in this period. (SNW: "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow")

An image of a maple seedling was contained in the library computer aboard the USS Enterprise. This data was flashed on a viewscreen when the Talosians scanned the Enterprise computer in 2254. (TOS-R: "The Cage")

In the 2375 Species 8472 recreation of San Francisco, Chakotay explained his tricorder use by claiming his tricorder was registering the surrounding bamboo as maple trees. (VOY: "In the Flesh")
