For the starship class, please see New Orleans-class.

New Orleans was a major port city on Earth, located on the Gulf coast in the state of Louisiana, United States of America. The city was famous for its French Quarter that contained, among other attractions, Jackson Square and Audubon Park. The 24th century New Orleans-class starship was named after this city. (TOS: "The Cage"; TNG: "Brothers"; DS9: "Image in the Sand", "The Visitor", "Homefront")

History[]

In the 19th century Frederick La Rouque was born here. (TNG: "Time's Arrow")

This city was identified on a political map of the Northern Hemisphere. This map was accessed from the USS Enterprise library computer by the Talosians in 2254.

In the mid-20th century, people, even those in rural areas, could hear about what was happening in this city on the radio. Though people might feel they were far from events, radio brought them in closer. (TNG: "The Big Goodbye")

The pages seen in the episode were actually from the detective novel, The Listening Man, by author John A. Moroso. This novel was published in 1924. Information on New Orleans was from page 110.

The city was the birthplace of various members of the Sisko family, including Benjamin Sisko (in 2332), and was the location of Sisko's, Joseph Sisko's creole restaurant. (DS9: "Equilibrium", "Homefront", "Paradise Lost", "Image in the Sand")

For the first few days of his time at Starfleet Academy, Ben Sisko would travel from San Francisco to New Orleans for evening dinner. (DS9: "Explorers")

Commander William T. Riker enjoyed a holodeck recreation of the Bourbon Street Barn, in New Orleans, for the jazz music and the company. (TNG: "11001001")

Sisko recommended New Orleans as a place for Miles O'Brien to live when he and his family left Deep Space 9 for Earth after the Dominion War ended. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")

In an alternate timeline, in 2381, Jake Sisko married Korena in this city. (DS9: "The Visitor")

When the USS Cerritos crew were temporarily grounded in 2381, Sam Rutherford and D'Vana Tendi had dinner at Sisko's in New Orleans. They were joined there by Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler. (LD: "Grounded")
